Meet Roy.

“When Roy first came into our lives, he was just a name on a list—the euthanasia list at a high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas. Time was running out. Among the noise and confusion of the shelter, there was another dog there at the same moment, a gentle girl named Alani. In the chaos of tagging Roy for rescue, a mistake was made—they handed us Alani instead.

What followed was a scramble of phone calls, arrangements, and hope. A foster stepped forward at the last possible moment, and finally—finally—both dogs were safely pulled from the shelter. That’s when we met Roy for real.

He was heartbreakingly fragile. Pneumonia settled into his lungs shortly after he left the shelter. His skin was raw, painful, and neglected. He spent days in the hospital, fighting, resting, trying to understand a world that had never shown him kindness.

But Roy was not done.
Slowly, breath by breath, his lungs cleared. His skin began to heal. His eyes grew brighter. He discovered softness—soft blankets, soft voices, soft hands that cared for him without asking anything in return.

And then something incredible happened.
Roy transformed.

The scared, sick dog who once stood on the edge of losing everything became a picture of resilience. His coat filled in, glossy and warm. His tail learned to wag again. His body grew strong, and his spirit stronger. The dog who had once been overlooked became unforgettable.

Today, Roy is living proof of what love, patience, and a second chance can do.
